For Laura

I'm sitting here
trying to think of a good poem,
a new poem for my student,
a student called Laura.

Laura is a diligent student,
a rarity, you might say,
always present, as bright as day,
never truant or imprudent.

It's been like that since day one,
a suprising turn for anyone,
but not for Laura,
who emanates the perfect aura.

Still, greatness is not her measure,
sure, she strives for leisure,
if only things were peaceful
and existence more increaseful.

Of course! Laura, we can say, is like Batman,
the Dark Knight chasing shadows of a man,
but with a bigger cave,
and a whole lot of petshop wave.

For her, there is no need for a mask,
even on New Year's flask,
She isn't afraid to colour her emotions,
and combat personal commotions.

I'm wishing Laura all that is best,
on a cheerful day and beyond,
put the matters to a rest,
and smile at the beau monde.
