Roseanne's Summer Vacation- Chapter 40

“Oh shit! He’s coming this way!” Milena screamed.

Tae-jun was charging at them like a wild boar. In fact, his enraged face with all the dry blood resembled a wild boar.

This is going to be a smooth execution, he thought. Three shots straight in the chests of three girls. He reached for his gun behind the belt, but there was none. Damn it! I must have dropped it on the ship!

All of a sudden, Thally emerged in front of him in a police cap made for kids, holding up a traffic paddle with a “Stop” sign. The blue jacket she wore had two gumball lights mounted on top of the shoulder pads.

“Hold it right there! Half a millisecond, mister!” she shouted. “Are you by any chance looking for this?” Thally revealed in front of him the laptop they bought today. He was dumbfounded.

“What?—“ he muttered.

“We have recorded on it all the precious bitcoins you are looking for, honey bun,” she explained in a tone as if he were a toddler. Tae-jun raised his eyebrows. “But you need to be quicker than us to get it.”

She threw the laptop in the air, which was immediately intercepted by Nika. Tae-jun went after her, but the chain-smoking girl passed it on to Milena. It was like a frisbee game. Encircled by the girls, the injured Korean kept jumping back and forth, failing to keep up. Ultimately, his throat produced a deafening war cry.

Nika froze in fear. Milena covered her ears. Thally, who currently held the laptop, glanced at him with disgust. She asked, “Bro, are you going into Super Saiyan mode or something?”

In a split second, Tae-jun got to the wisecracking girl, grabbed the laptop, and pushed her to the ground. He was about to start running away, but a flying kick from Natasha knocked him off his feet.

“I will shove a teaspoon straight up your ass!” Roseanne’s loyal friend shouted.

In the meantime, Roseanne and Mr Orville were heading for the gangway. The uncontrollable rocking of the ship made it impossible for them to stand, so they advanced forward on hands and knees. The ramp that connected the pier with the deck kept swaying left and right. They made a step and tumbled down, then another step and tumbled down farther. Eventually, the ramp broke under pressure like a chopstick. The student and her teacher flew on the cracked wooden plank until it landed on the pier. Roseanne lost her balance and she found herself hanging from the edge of the pier; the dark abyss of the sea loomed below her feet.

“Hang on!” Mr Orville rolled to her on the concrete. He grabbed her wrists and pulled up fast.

At the same time, the mooring lines gave in. The large cables snapped one by one. It was only a second, but Roseanne noticed a jettisoned cable flying straight towards them. She jumped and pushed her teacher out of the impact zone. The cable zapped the concrete and took away its large chunk like a hungry snake.

Mr Orville got dizzy from rolling over until he regained his composure. He was lying on the pier; Roseanne was next to him.

“And I thought PE was exhausting enough,” she said, catching a breath.

The Khatanga ship quickly withdrew on the water. If it hadn’t been for its size, one could think that it’s a toy going backwards in a bathtub. Unfortunately, it wasn’t. The abandoned cargo ship crashed into the breakwater. Its propeller got smashed to pieces. The engine jammed and exploded in consequence. Soon after, the fire broke out on the main deck. The two saw the flames consuming the ship in the distance.

“It ain’t over yet.” Roseanne got up and dusted off her uniform. She had a score to settle with Tae-jun.
