Driving Home For Christmas
It’s Christmas break over here, which means free time off school. This year, we get eighteen days! Well, it’s already day two out of eighteen, but I’m still happy.
It all depends on the calendar in Poland, actually. I think last year, the classes ended on the 22nd of December (this year, it was on the 19th). On the last day before the break, there aren’t any lessons. Instead, each class organises a Christmas gathering with their homeroom teacher where they eat the snacks they brought, and exchange gifts and wishes.
To spread the Christmassy spirit, I want to share a song, which I always play on the bus when I get home from these gatherings. It’s Driving Home for Christmas by Chris Rea.
I love this song primarily because of Chris Rea’s soothing voice and heartwarming lyrics. But I also love to death this particular YouTube video, which I included above. It perfectly reflects the vibe and ambience of the song.
Needless to say, because I play the song on every last day before the Christmas break, it makes me remember about all the school Christmas gatherings I attended. This year, I got beautiful Christmas cards made by my students as well as some presents (mostly snacks, but there were also manga volumes!) You can see these in the pictures below.

EDIT 2 days later: I have found out that Chris Rea passed away :-( May his soul rest in peace.
